myProgress Expansion: Streamlining Immigration Processing Times for Form I-765 and I-131

Posted on Thu Jul 13The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has just announced a significant expansion to their digital platform, myProgress. Previously recognized as personalized processing times, myProgress is a tool designed to enhance the transparency of immigration procedures by providing applicants with a personalized timeline for their case processing. The platform’s feature has now been extended to include two essential forms: I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) and I-131 (Application for Travel Document).
myProgress: A Paradigm Shift in Immigration Services
myProgress embodies a paradigm shift in immigration services, marking a significant advancement in the digital transformation of USCIS. The platform uses historical data patterns to offer applicants an estimate of wait times for significant milestones in their case. This includes the time leading up to their final case decision.
While these estimates are formulated based on cases with similar specifics, they are not definitive guarantees of the processing speed. They also may not account for all possible unique application processing delays and can either overestimate or underestimate the actual processing time. This innovative tool, however, significantly aids applicants by offering a clearer sense of the journey ahead.
Incorporating More Forms into the myProgress Platform
Prior to this expansion, myProgress was already assisting applicants who filed Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization), Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card), and Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) via a USCIS online account.
The inclusion of Form I-765 and Form I-131 is a considerable enhancement that will empower a wider range of applicants with a personalized visualization of their case timeline.
How to Use myProgress
To access myProgress, applicants first need to create or log into their USCIS online account. Once logged in, they can select their pending application. If an applicant e-filed or linked one of the applicable forms to their online account using an online access code, a myProgress tab will become visible for their application.
This tab reveals the estimated wait time until a case decision is reached and also provides a checkmark beside three milestones as they are completed:
- Receipt of the application;
- Completion of the biometric services appointment (if necessary);
- The decision on the pending case.
- It’s worth noting that applicants must still visit the Check Case Processing Times webpage to determine if they are eligible to file an Outside of Normal Processing Times service request.
Conclusion: A Step Towards Greater Transparency and Accessibility
The expansion of myProgress services to include Form I-765 and Form I-131 represents another stride in USCIS’s commitment to enhance applicant experiences. By offering a more transparent and accessible immigration process, the USCIS is not only bolstering trust among its users but also shaping a more user-friendly immigration landscape. As we look forward to further advancements in USCIS’s digital journey, myProgress stands as a compelling testament to the transformation underway.
